The Lieutenant Governor’s Challenge is to complete the entire route around the Island in 4 stages over each year during his tenure on the Island. It is ideal for walkers with young families, or those with less of an appetite to conquer the 48.1 miles in the Main Walk. You could just do the Lieutenant Governor’s Challenge for fun, or as preparation to undertake the Main Walk in future years.

This year, the Lieutenant Governor’s Challenge offers you the opportunity to complete the 13 mile route from Le Braye Slip to the Finish Line at the Waterfront, which runs parallel with the Main Walk.
The Lieutenant Governor’s Challenge
starts from Le Braye Slip at 2:00pm on Saturday, 23 June 2018
The Lieutenant Governor’s Challenge starts at Checkpoint 9 of the Main Walk (Le Braye Slip) and finishes at the Official Finish Line at the Waterfront Checkpoint 9 – everyone running a checkpoint is there to offer each of you support and encouragement.
We will provide all walkers with an A4 map with important details about checkpoint opening hours and directions in walker packs that shall be posted during the first week of June. In the meantime, you can download a copy here: States Street Island Walk Map 2017.
We are finalising the route for 2018, but if you want to start some training walks, then check out the route sections below (based on 2017 route). You can also download a copy of the LG Walk Route Booklet [to follow], but please note some aspects may change due to road or coastal path improvements.
Open the interactive map and click on the each checkpoint marker for directions and route:
